Baked Chakli
Diwali is incomplete without chaklis. But this delicious savoury Diwali snack is deep-fried and is an absolute no-no if you are watching your weight. Instead of giving up chaklis altogether, you can try a baked version of this crowd favourite that is just as tasty and crispy!
Ingredients
1 cup rice flour
1/2 cup low-fat curd
2 tsp sesame (til) seeds
1-2 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp oil
Salt to taste
Optional – A pinch of asafoetida (thing)
Recipe
- Pre-heat the oven to 180°C
- Mix all the ingredients with water in a large bowl and knead it to make a semi-soft dough
- Line a baking tray with a lightly greased baking sheet
- Transfer the dough to a chakli press and press out spirals in the size you desire on the sheet
- Bake the chaklis in the oven for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown
- Cool the baked chaklis, store them in an air-tight container, and treat yourself to this healthy and yummy evening snack!

Peanut Laddoo

Ingredients
1 cup raw peanuts
1/2 cup powdered jaggery
3-4 tbsp melted ghee
Optional – 1/4tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
Recipe
- Heat a pan on a medium flame and roast the peanuts till crunchy
- Let the peanuts cool down and peel off the skin
- Blend the peanuts in a mixer/grinder to a coarse powder
- Add the jaggery, ghee, and cardamom powder and mix again
- Transfer the mixture to a bowl and roll it into small laddoos from
- Store the laddoos in an air-tight container

Wheat Papdi

Ingredients
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp carom (ajwain) seeds
1 tsp cumin (jeera) seeds
2 tbsp ghee
Salt to taste
Recipe
- Pre-heat the oven to 180°C
- Mix all ingredients with water in a large bowl and knead it to make a firm dough. Let the dough rest for about 30 minutes
- Knead the dough again and make equal-sized balls
- Roll the balls to a flat disc, the size of a small puri
- Line a baking tray with a lightly greased baking sheet
- Place the papdis on the baking sheet and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown
